Sitepoint was the most popular website selling marketplace, but as the initial sitepoint business wasn’t about buying or selling anything besides their own eBooks, the managers decided to make a separate company under same ownership and different logo – Flippa – the new internet marketplace (keeping all database, feedback and users). Although the sitepoint market looked rather better than flippa, which hasn’t optimized the space enough, flippa still has a huge success.

As a radical change was the policy of buy/sell, configured only for real website owners which sell profitable websites, leaving the crap away.  There are really nice rules regarding the listing publishing and bidding. Now besides the initial price for listing you should also pay a small fee, which you decide as your or the buyer’s responsibility.

Never the less if you’re selling a profitable biz, you should be sure you’ll get bidders fight for it, as most of my listings are successfully sold in the first 3 days. Besides that you can still use the famous sitepoint listing structure which lets you decide a BIN (buy it now price) , a minimum bid and minimum sale price, you also get to leave feedbacks and private bid. As for both buyer’s and seller’s  comfort the website details as pagerank ,alexa etc. are automatically published, which save time.

Flippa keeps a nice reverence in the users, so no problems appear. Till now flippa allready made over $27,607,559 Sales Overall, and having over 1400 Active Listings and a 35% Listing Sold Overall (which is high as most failed listings happen as a result of the seller’s exaggerated prices).

Sitepoint marketplace remains active but the general succes is on Flippa.
