Another nice web person and his geek friends

Step One – Deciding The Niche:
First of all before creating a directory … I suggest using only a specific niche (not a general directory), it is easier o build a niched directory and success is more repaying as well as it’s easier when it comes to advertising. it’s not a problem to have a general directory.
Step 2 - Understand the Script , Creating Pages:
After deciding the niche, bought the domain, then tried to see all the script has to offer, understand all he codes etc. Then created all the inner text pages like : about us, contact us …
When it comes to writing the pages it is most important to use the basic marketing rules : Short, Convincing , more images, simple. One of the best improvement which is related to the scripting was (AND I SUGGEST YOU) to DELETE the Place BID Details like : Adress, street, country ; don’t scare people away.
When it comes to categories … try not making a hell out of the long lists of categories (which is why I recommend niched directories). Make basic categories, more subcategories so the general rule : less text, more images would be respected, otherwise the visitors get bored and leave.
Step 3 – The Design:
I made the design myself … basic html, css and photoshop. A custom design ads some originality to the site. Improving the arrangement, which the bidder counts on, is one of the most important in directories, as all bidders look for the same thing – EXPOSURE. The higher exposure…the more the bidder pays.
Second of all … Don’t .. Remember Don’t EXAGGERATE With Ads. Ads make directories look CHEAP and Unsecured.
Design counts for Google PR. The better arrangement, the easier can people navigate your website, the higher PR you get.
If your not interested in learning html…. get a designer at digital point forums.
Step 4 - SEO Improvement:
The keywords of categories and pages are important when it comes to seo and indexed pages in search engines. The better keys you’ve got, the higher will you appear under some searches. Use google adwords for checking keyword rankings.
Step 5 – Advertising and PageRank:
Seo is important for PR.
I know seo pretty good and can say that best seo is content and regular updates. That’s the worst part when it comes to directories as their not based on content and updates are not too often. The ONLY Solution for getting a pr remaining is getting at most backlinks as you can. Make link exchanges.
Advertise offers on forums. Make original banner ads etc. (do them myself)
The maximum PR of infogamerz was 2. Didn’t have too many backs but was enough. I sold it for 90$ as it got pr banned when I listed it
lol
.
After sale there was an update, PR increased back to 2, Alexa divided twice … lol
.
Never publish advertising on forums with the links to the website – PR BAN USUALLY .

First of all you need to understand that ther’s a difference between the paind version (ex: phpLinkBid) . You’re less protecte, less themes, less support, but anyways some of the scripts are nice.
My frst directory under the lbs platform was infogamerz.com . I did all he work, the seo, the design, etc. LBS has a nice forum, nice supoort , good people . It’s easy to install, not to many themes but anyways easy to use.
Had a success with infogamerz.com Got PR2 , got bids, made money. Sold for 90$ .. cause of PR ban … stupid mistake , but that was long time ago .
It’s free, register .

I kinda saw this problem multiple times on all the marketing/webmaster forums and thought it would be nice if I just gave a complete answer to all : Sometimes twitter bans you from having more than ex:2000 followers … that’s cause the fallowing you / you follow ratio is too low … here’s the solution -
Un-Follow those who aren’t following you !

As twitter is all about posting as followers come only if you post nice stuff, I’m gonna give you some advices about twitting.
1. Be yourself
2. Respect your followers by offering valuable content…it doesn’t matter what it is, just make if valuable.
3. The more value you offer, the more your messages will be re-tweeted (a key to gaining a following)
4. Never send your followers directly to an sales letter or opt-in page without offering value in return. The best value is good content or information that will help them in their niche.
5. By using this method, eventually you will able to “move” your followers over to your email list, where again you will offer value, and then an occasional offer.
Try writing about stuff you know, not make people follow junk you don’t know yourself as it will definitely fail. Do not just give a direct link to your landing page , which will definitely scare away followers , follow the upper steps . Convince people that you’re the pro in your niche … by giving (again most important) quality content, advices … etc. Believe it or not I never gave affiliate links on twitter … I just write about what I know : blogging, seo, affiliate, marketing, adwords …. but these themes really interest people … as you don’t just trey pulling the shit out of them … but also give them a lot in exchange.
Oh, one more tip. Find someone that is a leader in your niche by using some of the free Twitter apps out there, and begin to follow their followers. On average you will get about 30% to follow you back. I have gone from just under 400 followers to over 700 using this method in just about 2-3 days of actively working this method.

I know a few businesses increasing their sales from Twitter. For example, I know a photographer who takes photos of the sun rise every morning for christening presents / new born baby gifts etc. He does a Twitter search to see what people are talking about new babys and then sends them a link to his website.
