Google Chrome Web Browser 2.0.166.1

Google is back with the new Version of Chrome, this time adding the missing and important full screen mode. Beyond that, Chrome now supports HTTP authentication over a keep-alive connection – something that Chrome’s release notes indicate are required for NTLM authentication.

Additionally malware reporting gets a boost in Chrome 2.0.166.1. The improved feature in Chrome will now report on more suspected malware instances. According to Google’s code entry:

Any malware resource that we detect on a page is reported if the page that contains it is not in the blacklist AND the user has opted in to reporting stats.

Looks like another solid week of progress for Chrome development. This is one project that sure seems to have be moving fast on Windows at least. There is still no Mac or Linux version publicly available for Google Chrome.

Google Tweets on Twitter

Google integrated its Blogger Following feature with Google Friend Connect this week, but the search giant put a damper on its own launch by signing up for a Twitter account. Google began Tweeting Wednesday evening. Its first post was strings of 0′s and 1′s, binary code for “I feel good.”

But Google’s second post may be the company’s real motive for launching on Twitter -  “Check out the new Google Apps Status Dashboard.” After a data-center fiasco earlier this week that put Gmail out of commission for a couple of hours, Google has moved to be more transparent. The dashboard is one move, and Twitter is the other.

Google’s Twitter tells the story: “News and updates from Google.” In less than three days, Google has attracted nearly 28,000 followers. It has posted 100 updates, mostly surrounding its products. There are tweets about Google Toolbar, Google Friend Connect, and Google Translate.

Short News – Google Anti-Malware Members Only Forum

From WASHINGTON — – In the next couple weeks, security researchers, representatives from government agencies and major tech firms such as Google are planning to launch a collaborative security forum to combat malware and fraud on the Web. The turn point – It’s members only.

“This is closed community — membership needs to be approved by existing members,” said Google’s Eric Davis, who holds the title of head of anti-malvertising with the search giant.

In addition to Google, the Internet Security Community will draw participation from Microsoft, Cisco, Xerox PARC, representatives of the Federal Trade Commission and others.

Google is part of the core group developing the site, but the project is launching under the auspices of the Fighting Modern Malware Working Group, an annual security gathering organized by the Santa Fe Institute.

Short News – New PSP

After the former COO of game developer Acclaim David Perry Twittered about the new PSP2 and its lack of a UMD drive, the Internet started paying attention to Sony‘s oft-forgotten game handheld. Perry wrote, “I hear Sony FINALLY has the PSP 2. And thank goodness, they’ve removed the stupid battery-sucking UMD disc drive. I’m excited!”

GameDaily BIZ followed up with Perry, who said he was tired of new PSP versions relegated to color changes and “baby steps.” He then said he was “certain” the PSP2 would not have a UMD drive, but could not reveal his sources.

Music – Linkin Park Club Remix

Good remix of Linkin Park’s “Numb” song, mixed for club music fans. The rim is good, could add some more of the words, but still 8/10 (very good).
